MY MANGO RED-ON-RED DUO
Dressing is all about proportion and colour – these red pieces bring together the best of both.

In the pursuit of expanding my red capsule wardrobe, I perused Mango's website and drilled deep into their red separates. A slim-fit sweater by the name of Rebecca and a pair of retro flare trousers, both in shades of red, caught my eye.
Mango is a Spanish company with stores around the globe. Mr Swinging and I had the chance to shop in their Málaga (Spain) store and were impressed with the quality and the effortless chic of the line. Mango was founded by two Turkish brothers whose love of the sweet and juicy fruit inspired the brand. In the early 1980s they moved to Spain and set up shop in sunny Barcelona.

Even though this is the era of internet shopping, it was still a thrill when the package arrived with a Barcelona return address. With online shopping there's always a moment of apprehension — will this look good or is it going straight back? (In this case, to Barcelona.)
I needn't have worried. The Rebecca sweater is a stunning, persimmon shade, bordering on tomato, and the square neckline is oh, so flattering. Dressing is all about illusion and the square neckline flatters the décolletage and makes the bust appear smaller.

And the colours! The Rebecca sweater is an amazing shade of red that simply pops! The flared trousers in cerise — a deep, cherry red — make me smile every time I glance downwards.
On Mango's website, the flare pants hit well above the ankle on the tall model. On me, they're a pleasing full-length trouser. The piping down the centre line gives them structure as does the narrow waist band with a side zipper.

Dressing is all about proportion and colour; these separates bring the best of two worlds — a terrific red tonal outfit punctuated with sharp details.
What am I going to wear tomorrow? My Mango red-on-red duo.
