FAUX FUR & LOTS OF PEARLS!
The simple, crispness of white on white with the gentle cascade of fur and pearls creates a warm, monochromatic moment.
Sometimes, dear Reader, rules are meant to be broken. And that includes my own rule about not wearing too much jewelry.
This bejewelled white-on-white look also feature an ivory faux fur vest, a piece that checks all the boxes for me. First of all, it's the right shade of white — not pure white but a divine shade of ivory. The fur not only looks luxurious, the vest is lined and features hand-warming pockets. Best of all, it fits perfectly on my shoulders — not too big, not too small, but just right. Goldilocks would love wearing this.
Underneath I'm wearing an ivory-tone merino wool sweater. The classic V-neck pullover doesn't compete with the vest, but blends with it into a frosty porcelain cloud.
This winter-white look needed just one more detail. So, I rummaged through the jewelry box and grabbed all of my mother's pearl necklaces. Layers of snow-coloured pearls lay nicely on the fur and make the final look more luxurious, more flamboyant. One more pearl, though, and the outfit might explode into Crazy Grandmother territory!
And then — to keep it on the casual side — I went for classic leg-hugging Levis. The dark denim somehow grounds the outfit.
To mix it up and dress it up, I tried this all-white look with ivory trousers. And, listen: you can wear white all year round, it's not just for summer. For easy maintenance look for white trousers that can handle the washing machine... and have a steady supply of stain removing spray on hand!
